Dermal fillers are injectable gel-based compounds administered under the skin to replenish lost volume, minimize lines and soften creases, or improve facial contours. It is an affordable way to achieve a more youthful look without surgery or downtime. The most common type of fillers and what’s used in our practice is Hyaluronic acid and Poly-L-lactic Acid.
Hyaluronic acid (HA)
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance naturally present in your skin. It helps maintain skin volume, suppleness, and hydration. The results are not permanent, typically lasting 6 to 18 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles. Most HA fillers contain lidocaine, which is an anesthetic that helps reduce discomfort during and after treatment. Here are some products we use in our practice:

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)
Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible (meaning it is safe to use in the body), biodegradable synthetic substance. It has been used for many years in medical devices, such as dissolvable stitches. PLLA products are technically classified as “collagen stimulators,” as their main mechanism to smooth fine lines is by helping your skin rebuild natural collagen filler gel itself dissipates a few days after treatment but stimulates collagen production and restores volumes within a few months. Results can last more than 2 years. FDA-approved PLLA fillers include Sculptra® Aesthetic.
Here are a few of the common concerns that dermal fillers can help treat:

After injection, you might have mild discomfort, bruising, and swelling for up to a week. After the swelling goes down, you might need a touch-up injection for the best results. How long the effect lasts depends on the type of wrinkle and filler, among other factors.
