Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) come from your own blood and contain high concentrations of platelets and growth factors that help your tissue heal and grow new cells. What is the difference between PRP and PRF?
When PRF is collected, there is no anticoagulant in the tube into which it’s collected and in result the plasma forms a platelet and white blood cell-rich fibrin scaffold once injected into the treatment area. The fibrin clot allows for a much slower and longer release of growth factors (up to 1 week) as opposed to PRP which releases growth factors within a few hours. This causes PRF to yield a better, more substantial result than PRP.

Downtime

Your provider will need to perform a blood draw in order to create your platelet-rich plasma. Blood is typically taken from a vein in the arm. If you are undergoing a microneedling procedure, a topical anesthetic may be administered prior to the procedure to reduce sensation and make you more comfortable.
Following your treatment, you may notice a tight feeling in your skin or a minor stinging sensation. This will typically dissipate in 1-2 days after your appointment.
