What to Expect Before and After Botox Q&A

What to Expect Before and After Botox Q&A

Botox is a non-surgical technique in which some face muscles are temporarily parallelized by injecting an improved form of botulinum toxin into them. This results in skin that is smoother and younger-looking, but before considering Botox, it’s crucial to understand what to expect both before and after the procedure. Dr. Shadi, MD, will assist in reducing aging symptoms. You should start noticing the results of your Botox treatment within a few days. For more information, contact us or schedule an appointment online. We are conveniently located at 20469 Yorba Linda Blvd CA 92886, Located in: East Village Shopping Center inside Sola Salon Studios, Suite #7.

Botox injections are a safe and common cosmetic procedure used to relax the facial muscles responsible for causing fine lines and wrinkles. By blocking certain chemical signals, Botox prevents muscles from contracting; this smooths the skin, reducing the appearance of age-related skin conditions on the face. They can also be used to treat certain medical conditions, such as migraines.

Dr. Shadi Concierge Medspa‘s team of medical professionals is dedicated to helping you achieve your specific aesthetic goals in a safe, professional, and effective manner.

How long does it take to look normal after Botox?

A benefit of Botox is that recovery time after your procedure is typically very minimal (if you require any at all). However, your full results from Botox treatment won’t be immediately available, as it often takes some time for the product to set completely.

Following your session, you will typically begin to notice observable differences after 48 hours. The full results of your treatment will be observable, on average, within 10-14 days. During this time, you may experience some very mild side effects such as light swelling (especially around the injection site) and redness. However, these effects should resolve within the first week following your treatment and should not interfere with your day-to-day activities.

What should you not do before and after Botox?

There are certain things that your Botox practitioner will have you avoid before and after your treatment to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of side effects (such as bruising and bleeding). This includes:

Before Treatment
• Avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for 7-10 days prior to your procedure.
• Avoid receiving sun damage to the area you’re looking to have treated.
• Avoid alcoholic beverages for 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
• Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using creams in the area that will be receiving treatment.

After Treatment
• Avoid touching or rubbing the injection site for 2-4 hours following treatment.
• Avoid exercise and sweating for 24 hours following your procedure.
• Avoid lying down or leaning forward for 2-4 hours following your treatment.
• Avoid any dermatological treatments or massages to the area for 2 weeks following treatment.
• Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for 2-3 days following your procedure.
• Avoid direct sun exposure to the affected area, and make sure to apply skin-safe sunscreen frequently.

While Botox is a temporary procedure, the results can last 3-4 months when the appropriate aftercare prescribed by your specialist is adhered to. In addition, if you adhere to your scheduled appointments with the frequency recommended by your Botox practitioner, the longevity of each treatment may begin to last longer than 4 months.

What will I look like immediately after Botox?

While the side effects of Botox are usually very minimal, any that you do experience should resolve within a few days following your treatment.

It is completely normal to experience some mild residual stinging and/or some small red bumps to appear around the injection site(s). You may also experience some light bruising and swelling around the treated area. This is rare, but if you do experience bruising it should resolve after a few days. You can mitigate your chances of experiencing bruising by avoiding anti-inflammatory medications before going in for your procedure. You should also avoid rubbing or touching the injection site for 24 hours following your treatment.

Most people are able to return to their day-to-day activities immediately following treatment without any downtime. However, some people are more comfortable with taking it easy in their own homes for a few days following treatment while any side effects subside.
